Claudia Barfield LaBorde, OTR, CHT

Claudia brings more than 25 years of experience to her clinic. A Baton Rouge native and Occupational Therapy graduate of the LSU Medical Center in New Orleans, she is also a Certified Hand Therapist. Claudia has been cited for excellence in her field by the National Federation of Business and Professional Women, and is also a recipient of the Louisiana Small Business Person of the Year Award. She has organized and implemented patient care programs in hospital and clinical settings, has written numerous therapy protocols, and has served as a guest lecturer for professional and civic organizations. She has special training and experience in the treatment of brain injuries and burn patients. As a Certified Hand Therapist, she brings a special expertise to care of hand, shoulder, elbow, wrist and other upper extremity injuries.


Jaime Mendoza, OTR, CHT

Jaime Mendoza, OTR, CHT

With more than 12 years experience as a Hand Therapist and Occupational Therapist, Jaime received his Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He later practiced at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas, Texas, in the treatment of burns, hands, neurology, orthopedics and in-patient rehabilitation. His experience includes evaluation and treatment of: level one acute trauma patients including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, burn injuries, traumatic amputations, gun shot wounds and orthopedic injuries. As a Certified Hand Therapist specializing in the Upper Extremities, Jaime has added to his extensive experience with operative and non-operative injuries of the humerus, radius, ulna, carpal, metacarpal and digits, rotator cuff repairs, shoulder acromioplasties and shoulder and elbow dislocations; various tendon injuries and transfers, nerve lacerations, compression disorders, arthritis and neurological disorders.


Chase Webre, OTR

Chase Webre, OTR, CHT

Chase Webre, OTR, CHT, has joined LaBorde Hand, Occupational and Physical Therapy Center as a Licensed and Registered Occupational Therapist. Chase received his Masters of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from the Louisiana State Health Science Center in New Orleans in 2010. Chase received his Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and is a native of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.

Chase has gained valuable clinical experience in multiple patient settings where he was able to develop clinical skills in the treatment of outpatient orthopedics, acute care and in-patient rehabilitation, and developmental pediatrics.

Chase has been associated with LaBorde Therapy Center for years. He began his LTC career as a student volunteer and was later hired as a Therapy Tech because of his intense interest and dedication to LTC and their occupational therapy patients. Chase completed his Occupational Therapy student internship at LTC and another specialized hand therapy center. In 2016 Chase received the Certified Hand Therapy designation.

Chase’s path to Occupational Therapy was influenced greatly by the experiences he shared with his younger sister, who has Down’s Syndrome. It is because of her that he has the utmost respect for people and the desire to help them improve their quality of life. LaBorde Therapy Center is pleased to have Chase make a difference in the lives of the patients of LTC.


Cheryl Troxclair, PT

Cheryl Troxclair, PT

Cheryl Troxclair, PT brings 21 years of primarily Outpatient Physical Therapy Experience to LaBorde Therapy Center graduating in 1991 from LSU. She has a wide variety of experience including owning her own successful private practice for 4 years.

Cheryl interned at Hughston Sports Clinic in Columbus, Georgia under Tab Blackburn PT who worked closely with Dr. Jack C Hughston and at HealthSouth Sports Clinic under Kevin Wilk PT who worked alongside of Dr. James R. Andrews, both renowned orthopedic surgeons. In these settings, she worked with athletes in their aggressive Sports Rehabilitation programs.

In addition to the extensive McKenzie Certification, Cheryl has a strong background in other Manual Therapy techniques used to treat the Spine & Lower Extremities. This includes specialized training in “Mulligan Techniques, Muscle Energy Techniques, Strain Counter Strain”, and even a course taught by Stanley Paris.

She has a strong background in the areas of Movement & Posture attending courses such as “Advanced Functional Movement Screenings” and “Postural Analysis” in addition to being a “Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist”.

These along with courses on various Neck, Back, & Lower Extremity Joints and several years working in Industrial Medicine, give her the tools and experience to treat Orthopedic Injuries in a well-rounded fashion that gets results.

As a college freshman she demonstrated a strong commitment to Wellness & Fitness becoming a “Certified Aerobics Instructor” and teaching aerobics for 8 years. Her interest continued in PT school, receiving the “LSU Physical Therapy Research Award” for her project, “Fat Metabolism Occurs at a Higher Rate During Lower Intensity Workloads Than During Higher Intensity Workloads”. She is a Certified Weight Trainer, has attended Courses like “Physical Therapy & Yoga” and “Effective Strength Training” and spends her personal time hiking, biking, canoeing, sailing, camping, and scuba diving.

Early in her career, Cheryl was in charge of treating Brain Injury, CVA & Quadriplegics in the rehabilitation wing of a hospital. She did an additional internship in a Rehabilitation Center and worked in California riots with Brain Injury & SCI patients primarily from gunshot wounds. She also has special training in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT).

Cheryl has training in the area of Cardiovascular & Alzheimer’s disease and has consulted to Rehabilitation Units and Nursing Homes. She is Certified in Wound Care thru IWA and has extensive experience in Work Conditioning and Functional Capacity Evaluation.

Philip Renoux, PT

Philip Renoux, PT brings 31 years of Outpatient Physical Therapy experience to LaBorde Therapy Center. Phillip is a 1986 graduate from LSU New Orleans School of Allied Health and USL with a B.S. in Behavioral Sciences. Philip has a wide variety of experience in both Inpatient and Outpatient Orthopedic settings treating Spine and Extremity dysfunctions.

Philip’s first therapy position was at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital as staff PT working in and outpatient settings where he developed and implemented the Wound Care program for Lourdes Hospital. Philip attended specialized training in Diabetic foot care and developed the screening protocol for all inpatient Diabetic patients for screening insensitive foot problems to help avoid development of wounds for Diabetics.

Philip’s desire to learn more manual therapy techniques led to several courses: McKenzie Spine and Extremity, IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization), Graston techniques, SI Joint Dysfunctions, MFR (Myofascial Release) techniques for Spine and Extremities. He is a Certified Strength Trainer for the elderly through IWA. These courses led him to become Advanced Trained in Primal Reflex Release Techniques. (PRRT) is a manual therapy technique that downregulates (calms) the nervous system to allow the muscles to relax and relieve pain. Philip has been using PRRT for 15 years in private practice with amazing results on chronic pain, acute pain, spine and extremity problems.

Philip enjoys spending time with family and his first granddaughter, fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

Casey Nolen PT, DPT

Casey Nolen PT, DPT graduated from LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA in 2009 with a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy (DPT). She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from LSU.

Casey began her career working in an outpatient setting at Willis Knighton in Shreveport, primarily evaluating and treating Orthopedic injuries including joint replacements, spine and shoulder surgeries, and lower extremity amputations. Additionally, her patient population involved neurological disorders including Traumatic Brain Injuries, Spinal Cord Injuries, Parkinson’s Disease and CVAs. She then moved to Lafayette, working 2 years in an inpatient rehab setting followed by 3 years in Home Health, treating a wide variety of diagnoses and patient populations.

Casey’s post graduate courses include Kinesiotaping techniques, Manual Therapy and Neuromuscular Reactivation, Spine for Primary Care, and Fall Prevention across the continuum of care. She is also a Certified Strength Trainer after completion of Weight Training for Rehab, Function, and Fitness training. Casey now eagerly returns to an Outpatient setting similar to where she began her career, with a passion to evaluate and rehabilitate patients allowing them to return to daily functional activities with an improved quality of life.


Erin Doucet, OT, CLT

Erin Doucet is a Licensed Occupational Therapist and Certified Lymphatic Therapist. She graduated from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in St. Augustine, Florida in 2016 with a Master’s in Occupational Therapy. She received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2014. Erin is a native of Moss Bluff, LA.

Erin began her Occupational Therapy career working in an outpatient setting treating patients with upper extremity orthopedic injuries. She also has experience with treating neurological disorders such as spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and CVAs both in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Erin is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist which gives her expertise to treat patients with cancer and non-cancer related lymphedema, Chronic Venous Insufficiency, lipedema, post traumatic edema, post-surgical edema, wound care, and chronic inflammatory conditions. LaBorde Therapy is pleased to have Erin on our Occupational Therapy team.


Chelsie Huval, M.S., CCC-SLP

Chelsie Huval is a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist. She graduated from University of Louisiana at Lafayette in May 2016 with a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Disorders from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in December 2016.

Chelsie began her career working in a pediatric and adult outpatient alongside an inpatient swing bed facility at St. Martin Hospital. She then worked for Acadiana Brain Injury for 2 years evaluating and treating individuals with neurological disorders including traumatic brain injury and CVA’s to assist with functional transitions back into the community and providing compensations to live as independently as able. She then worked as a contract speech language pathologist in multiple settings including inpatient rehabilitation, acute care hospital, ICU, Neonatal ICU, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities and home health treating a wide variety of diagnoses and patient populations. She then worked as a rehabilitation director at a skilled nursing facility in Lafayette for 2 years which housed a long-term care ventilator/tracheostomy unit. Her patient population involved neurological disorders, pediatric speech sound disorders, pediatric developmental delays, dysphagia, Dementia population, Parkinson’s Disease, tracheostomy/ventilation care, dysarthria, and voice therapy.

Chelsie’s post graduate courses include Standardization of Dysphagia Diets, Preparing Speech-Language Pathologist for Tracheostomy and Ventilator Patient Care, Mild Cognitive Impairment Characteristics and Treatment, Medical Speech Pathology and Dysphagia Practice: Managing Complex Adult Patients with Pulmonary, Digestive and Airway Disorders, and Respiratory Muscle Strength Training. She is also certified in AmpCare Effective Swallowing Protocol after completion of therapeutic neuromuscular electrical stimulation. She is a certified Dementia Care Specialists after completion of Dementia Capable Care with Crisis Prevention Institution.


Arlene Millet, PTA

LaBorde Therapy Center is pleased to announce that Arlene Millet, a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with 14 years of clinical experience, has joined our Physical Therapy Treatment Team. Arlene received a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in Secondary Education Biology in 1987. After teaching biology and coaching for 7 years, Arlene knew she wanted to expand her love of biology and science and desire to help people. With this in mind, she completed her Physical Therapy Assistant Associates degree in 1997 from Delgado Community College in New Orleans. Arlene was honored to be named an Outstanding Student in the PTA program. Arlene is able to combine both her teaching experience and treatment of patients and has the unique ability to effectively communicate medical terminology and anatomy to her patients in a way that is easy to understand.

As a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, Arlene will strengthen the Physical Therapy team with clinical experience in the treatment of outpatient orthopedic, geriatric, neurological, and total joint replacement patients. Arlene is dedicated to continue to increase her knowledge and skills in Physical Therapy treatments and attends educational seminars throughout the year. Arlene brings the ability to clearly communicate and motivate a diverse patient population to achieve goals, which allow patient to return to normal function and enjoy the life they want to live.

Along with her dedication to her profession, volunteerism is very important to Arlene. Arlene is very proud to be a Lifetime member and past President of the Junior Auxiliary of Iberia Parish, a non-profit women’s service organization with special emphasis on serving children. She also volunteers her time with various events sponsored by the Lydia Cancer Association. Arlene enjoys travel, photography and cooking. Arlene is a native of Franklin, La and currently resides in New Iberia.


Brittani Benoit, PT, DPT

Brittani Benoit, PT, DPT

Brittani Benoit, PT, DPT, brings 5 years of outpatient physical therapy experience to LaBorde Therapy Center graduating from UAB in Birmingham, AL in 2016 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT). She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from LSU in 2013.

Brittani began her career as a PT in an outpatient clinic and quickly rose to the role of clinic director. She began extensive training and continuing education classes to further her knowledge and passion to better assist her patients. In 2019, Brittani opened a startup PT clinic for a group of orthopedic surgeons in Indiana and successfully grew the business with a 5-star patient satisfaction rating, despite the global pandemic. She implemented post-operative protocols, monthly continuing education in-services with PT staff and surgeons, and collaborated with all healthcare professions in the area to ensure the best patient care and experience.

Brittani is a certified Sports Manual Therapist (SMTC), Certified Dry Needling Specialist (CDNS), certified in Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFRT), and is Certified Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization therapist (IASTM-cert). She has extensive experience and knowledge in cupping, kinesiotaping, injury screens, joint mobilizations and manipulations, spine and SIJ assessment, ergonomics assessment and education, and gait analysis.

Brittani is currently working on her Manual Physical Therapist (CMPT) specialty. Her passion is working with the orthopedic and athlete populations with an emphasis in sports rehabilitation.

Brittani spends her personal time with her husband and 2 children and enjoys attending LSU football tailgates.

Zachary Varn, PTA

Zachary Varn graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science. Zachary earned his Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Franciscian Missionaries of Our Lady University located in Baton Rouge, LA in 2021. Zachary has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2020.

Zachary has previously worked at a local hospital treating patients of varying acuity levels and diagnoses as well as a brain injury facility treating patients who have suffered traumatic brain injuries.

A native of Lafayette, LA, Zachary cheers on the Ragin’ Cajuns and enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and dog, Saint. He is currently engaged to his fiancée, Bailie.
